Electrical connections

I need to put together an electrical toolkit to work on Felicia's "interesting" wiring but I'm a little bewildered by the choice of tools available. I need a bit of advice on the following:

Are pre-insulated or uninsulated crimp terminals better?
What type of wire do I need?

pre insulated are better.

Wire depends on the amperage needed.

Tis one of the best sites to get an idea of the cable required, you may be able to get it cheaper elsewhere though.

Many would say its over kill but I solder all wires onto the connectors to ensure a good connection.
