Best but expensive is 123 ignition which replaces the whole distributor I have not had much success with kits but there may be one available. Can anyone advise me on the type/model of electronic ignition I need to fit this type of distributor ? 1985 850cc F4 (French Market Model). Hi Jeepman, try Aldon Automotive 01384 572553, they do an electronic ignition conversion for the Ducellior distributors. I have one fitted to the dizzy on my GTL. Your dizzy is probably stamped D287 D83, and of you quote that number they may be able to help you. Their system is all contained inside the distributor, with just two small cables going to the coil. The one I bought for mine cost just shy of £150, part number EP141 for curve D244 D61. Of course they may not do one for your dizzy, but it's worth asking.
Regards Brian.
There is a lot cheaper mine cost £50 and works a treat . Size of matchbox and attaches to the coil
Sorry rubbish photo. It's the little green box on the coil

After chatting to Brian (Cornish4) and Vincent Modica at yesterday's Kent Meeting, I have ordered an Aldon EP141 electronic ignition conversion (about £141 incl. postage and VAT). It is apparently dead easy to fit (although I've heard that before) but a 123 unit transformed my Citroen 2CV6 making it start first time, improved the fuel consumption and smoothed out the mid-range 'performance'. I'll let you know how I get on.
Um... I bought electronic ignition for various cars, just off of eBay for £28 each!
All contained within distributor, all of them worked fine.
Jaguar mk2, Austin A35 & R4 with ducelier distributor, why pay £100+ ?
I wouldn't even consider paying that price for simple electronics, as this is.
