Expansion tank

My 1972 R4s had a split radiator expansion tank so I exchanged it with a 1982 GTL tank . Do these tanks have different levels of pressure with the screw caps because I seem to have cooling problems .

more likely the cooling problem caused the glass bottle to fail in the first place
if you've got all th air out of the system
possibilities include thermostat blocked radiator and or head gasket
if you have got a friendly mot garage they can check head gasket by sniffing th air space on plastic bottle using exhaust gas probe
make sure kept out of liquid
any hydrocarbons on machine with engine running is bad news but the work shop air will show a trace btw
