Hi, First time posting here, I bought my father a 1992 Renault R4 and from what I can tell it does not have the original engine from 1992, can you identify the engine from the attached photos? also what would be the correct carburetor and water pump for this engine. Thanks for you help.

There's normally a plate on the engine block just to the left of the oil filter - is this missing from your engine?
Is your R4 an R1128? The type will be on the bulkhead plate - a good photo of that would be helpful:
But it's definitely a Cléon engine, probably 1108cc. It's got a Femsa distributor - these were fitted to some French cars, but did yours originally come from Spain or Portugal?
The carburettor is probably a Zenith 28IF - there are different types; there should be a serial number on the side of the carb body.
The water pump part number is 7701457671; some R5 Le Car variants used the same pump, so you should be able to get one on eBay:

I might be mistaken, it might be the original engine I just did not know what engine it is. First time dealing with a Renault. It comes originally from Portugal. I bought it a few months ago from the guy that imported it. He replaced the carburetor but he said it was not the original carburetor for the engine, just something they made work, so I am trying to find the original carburetor for this engine.

Is there no plate on the right-hand side of the block (I think I can just make one out in your photo - orange arrow)? This is the info we need to identify the engine type.

The 'Clan' badge would indicate that it's a GTL. 1108cc, if the engine's original.
It's a very late car - in 1992 the choice was between the 'Clan' (1108cc) and the 'Savane' (956cc). Both are 'Cléon' engines, and look extremely similar. If it's an 1108, the number on the distributor body will/should be R244D61.
Does the car accelerate and drive well? If so, I wouldn't worry too much about the carburettor, although it'd be good to know what the serial number on its side is - that way we'd be able to say whether it's definitely 'wrong'.
The Spanish and Portuguese cars and vans are often a little bit different in spec from the French-built ones!

It does drive / accelerate fine. Just has a fuel smell when I changed the oil but I will try to adjust the mixtures on the carburetor.
Yes the distributor is the R244D61 so that helps out with what engine I have.
