hello all.
can any one tell. or help me find out history on my r4. or where i can type my Vin# in and search about my car ?

I can't think of anywhere you could use your VIN number, but http://www.r4-4l.com/ has some information about the different years of production under "Histoire de la 4L".

For more detailed information Renault seemed to use the body number, but the only information about them seems to be in parts manuals.

I recommend the "Votre Auto" series from French magazine Gazoline. A short time ago they published two R4 issues, one covering 1961-1970 models, the other 1971-1992 ones. It's like a magazine but describes all the changes between model years, plus each model year's chassis numbers are listed. I think you can order both issues from their site http://gazoline.net.

The only "piece of history" available for your particular vehicle from official Renault is the "fiche d' usine", that is, a copy of the data sheet kept in the factory files after your car leaves the factory. It contains engine and gearbox serial numbers, paint code, destination of the car and so on. It can be obtained from Renault Histoire et Collection ( I remember finding an email somewhere in their website) but now costs 50 Euros, if I remember correctly.
