We went to a car show at the weekend in the 'Suisse Normande' with the R4.
During the course of the day we got talking to a few other owners, one of whom admitted that he was in possession of 44 of them, 11 of which were runners! Although that did include a couple of R3's the early small engined version with the wind down window in the bottom hinged tailgate.
Later on we were talking to another acquaintance of a friend of ours who confessed to having 46 cars, of various marques.
I thought we had it bad with our 8 or so.....

Total 35
Renault 7 (4 R4, 1 R8, 2 Goellett)
Peugeot 2 (204 Coupe, 504 Coupe)
BMW 13 (-02 series in all forms Tii, Touring etc. 2800 and a odd bird 1600GT)
Porsche 5 (SWB 911, F-targa, G-targa, G-coupe and 930 turbo)
Lada Niva turbocharged
Toyota KE20
Above is hobbie cars and the rest is VAG cars for commuting

More space and cash I guess there had been more cars. Somehow I can fool myself thinking I have time and cash to build all cars to my preferences. Now when I'm on second half of life I realise the need of let some of them go, but keep them anyway

Was the guy with 44 R4s Dutch by any chance?

I've been cutting down on cars. I sold the Gordini and my lovely R5 is for sale but not actually listed anywhere yet. Only 5 cars here. R4 van (chassis swap not completed. Can't be more than a week of work needed), Rodeo (again can't be more than a week of work needed), MGA (brake problems after lockdown), R5 (off the road because I don't use it), and a Peugeot 406 Coupe that actually works.

I had 11 BMW 2002's of various types.
They were basically Mark 2 Escorts, but made better, handling better, and more reliable,
so I always had one as an everyday car.
Shifted the lot years ago when work just took over my life.
Prices are now stupid....
