Is there a guide to swapping dash clocks?

Can anyone offer some instruction on best way to swap the dash clocks on a 1981 TL?

I currently have an inoperative speedometer that I want to swap over.

Be sure to check the working of the tachometer cable as well, the problem might reside in the mounting on the gearbox.

I did a few checks ... cable disconnected from clocks and with wheels off the ground ran the car in gear and the cable turned. I also had the cable connected to the clocks and span gearbox end with a drill .. still no life.

Hoping the above means it is the clocks at fault.
