Hi all.
First off, I am in Alicante, Spain.
Just got me a 1979 high top estate that appears to be totally original (apart from all oils, plugs, dizzy and leads etc that I have replaced).
I am a Jag fan but thought the Renault would be a bit of cute fun for us… WRONG! The wife can't stand it and it has to go.
I have no idea what its worth and am open to offers (I swapped it for a Jag, no comments please).
showing 49.000km on the clock.
good all round original condition.
no rust apart from a bit on the front of the Bonet that you can see in the photos.
No leaks.
All seats (front and rear) and dash are like Brand new.
body has age/work related scars/scuffs.
original Jack and brace
just passed spanish ITV (they only issue 6 months on this vehicle) with 1 advisory of right indicator has occasional malfuncion.
I am totally open to suggestions.
Many thanks for looking.
Paul.

Nope. I swapped a Jag for it so didn't part with any cash. They seem to be advertised at about 1500€ here, but that is not nesaceraly (pardon the spelling) what they sell for. Wondering what the value in other parts of Europe are... Don't know if they are sort after or just bargain-basement toys.

That seems a good starting point. As I have 2 F4's already my wife may think 3 is too much!!!!!!

But I do like the higher roof. Side windows and I assume a rear bench seat?

Yes. Rear bench seat (as new).
My wife can cope with a few Jags in the yard, but she can't do the Renault.
Bit of snobbery coming out maybe? LOL

Nice looking vehicle.
Any idea on price at all?
Hello Tomcat,
Since this sweet little estate car was acquired by exchange (no cash either way), should we ask Mr. Venables what he valued his Jaguar car at, on the day he parted with same? Would that not lead us somewhere near the asking price? As Forum members for many years, we have witnessed scores of R4s advertised on the European mainland. The cost of recovering bargains can be quite prohibitive and near impossible for individuals in full time employment. Anyone seriously interested in this little beauty should consider one of the many UK-based European vehicle movement specialists. As long as you are not in a rush. Such operators will fill their transporter decks (average 7 vehicles at £500 each approx) then the car/van/pick-up must be collected from their operating centre.
Neil (Algarve and Carmarthenshire)

Hi Neil.
I have a number of Jags, some on the road, others for spares for us in the club (Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, Costa Blanca).
The X308 Jag that I exchanged for the R4 was a project car. No definate value, only worth what someone wanted to pay.
Therefore I was happy to do a swap for something different without the concern of like for like value.
The local car dealer saw the R4 on my drive, stopped, then raved on for two hours how he's never seen one in such unpoluted condition or so original.
He gave me 1500€ and took it away (much to my wifes joy!).
I guess that equates to about 1300 English pounds?
That was yesterday.
I must admit I feel somewhat sad not seeing his cheeky face in the morning, and it was only here for a week.
Surprising how they get under your skin so quickly.
Paul.

Not the end of the world Paul. The F4 has charm, and will never be worth less than the figure quoted. May I suggest you cover the van on a quiet corner of your land. Return to the house and leave your laptop open on the living-room table, after downloading "a gallery of gorgeous". I guess it will take less than a couple of weeks before your missus is hooked on Renault 4s !!
N.
