I have a colleague, who has a limp handshake, It's bloody awful! You don't have to crush the other persons hand, but a decent grip is a major requirement.

You can imagine a massive que of english people waiting to exchange greetings and kisses.

It will be like one of those hill-billie songs, "The one at the front, turn around, follow on down the line swapping kisses, turn around and face forward at the rear of the que, then the new front person carry on again. lol

When in France..........
If we have a village event there might be eighty people present and we ladies will have kissed each one. You must remember who you have kissed already. Two kisses are the norm here.

why do some kiss 3 times ?

It depends on what part of Europe you are from. The Swiss and the Dutch and many Eastern European countries always kiss three times, the Belgians only once (?). In most of France you do two kisses except for Province where it is three kisses. I heard that in Nantes you do four.

9 months I've lived here and still sometimes proffer a hand to a lady who was expecting a kiss. I guess I'm just too British to get the hang of the continental custom!
