Megane 3 cabriolet Tom Tom GT problem - Boot locked and check roof error message

The boot release on my 2011 Megane 3 Cabriolet GT is not functioning. I am unable to open the boot using the usual button. While the remote key button successfully locks and unlocks the rest of the car, the boot remains locked. Attempting to open the boot with the physical key by inserting it into the key lock above the number plate has been unsuccessful, despite trying WD40. One side of the boot does not close correctly and can be lifted with considerable effort. Additionally, the dashboard is displaying an error message to check the roof, but I need to open the boot first to address it.

Any assistance in resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated.

An similar problem occurred with my Skoda Fabia estate; the boot would NOT open, no matter how many times the remote was "clicked" or the doors unlocked manually. Eventually we discovered-quite by chance-that the catch holding the rear seats in place wasn't locating properly. Normally this illuminates a red "seats tilted" warning on the dashboard, but this was missing too. Removal of the 2 baby seats and a copious cleaning of the area around the rear seats, including the part that locked the seats in place resolved the problem once and for all. Your "check roof" warning suggests a similar problem. Try using a powerful vacuum to clean all the clips, catches and spaces where the roof resides when it's folded away and check the drain holes, which allow water to drain away from the cavity are clear. Maybe some switch cleaner on the electrical switches that operate the warning too?
