Hi, can any one tell me more about these numbers on my reno apart from what i know as them been chassis numbers. Date of manufacture etc???

oval...116797
also another plate has 4l4v no.7597.

The diamond number means almost nothing (except for its use in the vehicle registration).

Are you sure the oval plate number is correct? If yes it's a 1964 model.

I have no idea about the other plate...where is it located? Can you send us a photo, as it sounds rather interesting.

i have lots of pics on my phone but it aint a full car anymore as the previous owner did a lot of chopping so it looked like a pick up, i have built a woodern frame on the back to make it in to a tear drop camper. Only other thing to do was scrap it and i was reluctant to do that. I need to prove its age so i can register it and put it on road when i'm done. I dont want a Q plate. If i can get some info or docs or something to prove age i can officially import and register. Unless someone else has any ideas....I also need two front doors with the top hindge on show. All 3 plates are under the bonnet. next too each other. If it is a 64 model its in good nick. Drum brakes etc. The oval plate has a 2 in the front but a lot lower than the rest. but it doesnt seem to match anything i've seen. Where did u get 64 model from and how?

If you would like something more official, you can write to Renault Histoire et Collection, to obtain the Fiche d' usine, it's sort of an identity card and has the build date among other useful data. Last time I asked it cost 50 Euros.
