Oil Sump Capacity & Dip Stick length

Hello

I am beginning to think that the dip stick and maybe the tube are incorrect for my R4 GTL.

I have put what I thought was the correct amount of oil ( what is the correct amount?) in and it only just registers on the dip stick.

The dip stick tube would apper to be incorrect for the engine as it is Y shaped with one part blocked off with a bolt.

The dip stick is 36.5cm from the bottom to the rubber stopper and the tube is 18cm from the block to its top.

Hello Martin,

I have a GTL and the Haynes supplement says that the GTL engine holds 3 litres + 0.25 litres in the oil filter.

Hello Martin. The dipstick on my GTL engine is 365mm long, and the tube is 185mm long. Hope this helps.
