Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a couple of new exhaust parts for my Renault R4F4. I'm in need of an "S" Pipe and the rear exhaust tube (the one with only a slight angle that comes out just before the rear wheel).

I ordered a new exhaust system from Der Franzose but the "S" Pipe and rear tube are not the same as what I have on my van.

Thanks,

Ben

Hi Ben

If you could let me know the year of manufacture of your R4F4, I will see if I can help. In addition, if you could also provide me with the Der Franzose part numbers of the S pipe and tail pipe you received, I can then rule these out of my enquiries. Photos of your old S pipe and Tailpipe would also be handy.

Apologies for the slow response. A few more details for you: My van is a 1984 850cc variant, R2106.

During my inquiries with Der Franzose they kindly sent me a very useful exhaust document (which should be attached). I ordered Part No: 82027 (S Pipe) and 82028 (End Pipe).

Looking back at it I was rather thrown off by the manufacture dates on the document. There isn't an exhaust suggestion for a post-1983 exhaust system for the F4 850cc.

I took a punt on the parts, but it looks like Part No: 82024 (S Pipe) and 82025 (End Pipe), are the ones I needed, which say it's for a pre 1984 model.

For a little more context, here's a photo of my old exhaust system next to the new one, where we can clearly see how wrong!

Moral of the story, do more research!

It'd be worth trying the parts you've been sent - the pipes will sit further in, and you'll have to drill a couple of extra holes for the bobbins, though. Most of the 4s I've had came with a variety of holes where different systems had been fitted over the years.

I'm not familiar with R4F4 exhausts but Melun Retro Passion sells exhaust packs and according to the pictures there's a difference in F4's (1965 untill 08-1983) and F4's (08-1983 untill 1992)
