Quck question about cooling fans

I've just ordered in a new cooling fan switch for my 1992 R4, the switch screws into the radiator perfectly but it has "110" stamped on to it. This can't be right?
Now I can't get the fan to come on when the car is stationary . The circuit's fine so the switch must me rated too high. Right??

Even on a modern car, 110 deg. C on the bottom of the radiator is too high. Maybe it means another thing? (product code?)

Thanks a lot Malcom. I set up a sort of improvised circuit and it didn't come on with boiling water. Luckily I found the old one in the shed and that one comes on at about 95 c so I've fitted that. The reason why I replaced the old one was due to thinking I has a faulty switch when I really had a bad earth.

My switch hasn't worked for about 2 years. Probably I should check my earths too :D

If the switch was 110C maybe it was intended for use in a more sensible position in a modern car? They can run to 120C these days.
