A christmas gift from my friends last xmas was an R4 van.

It needs alot of stuff to be done but the bodywork is not that bad and the engine and gearbox work sweet.

I really need to know if there exists ( except Haynes ) any exploded views of this especially the mechanical areas.

Also I would also need some spares along the line.

One thing i would like to start off with is knowing the exact model of it 4....

Hope someone can help me on here.

Regards

J

Hello Justin, welcome to the forum. What a lucky chap, given a R4, and a van to boot, nice. Might I suggest you post some photos on here, ID plates under the bonnet etc, that way your F4 can be identified and the anoraks amongst us can have a perv.:D

Will do as do not have pictures here. It has been quite abused but still solid for the number of years it spend driving round the island

Pictures are always good for ID ing a car. I expect the old girl has got "character", technical term for a few dents and dings, but if she's solid that's the important part. Nice climate in Malta so she should be rust free.

What's so problematic in identifying your van?
There's the small van (R4F4) and the big one (R4F6).
The small one came with different engines whereas the F6 always had the 1108 engine.

As for repair manuals - do a search for the M.R. 175 and 176 books.
They pop up on eBay occasionally.
The 175 covers the mechanical parts, the 176 the bodywork and it's specs.

What great pictures Justin, it certainly looks the part. The black and white one is particularly good, very period. It looks like a very nice van.

So what one will think is the exact model of my van ?
Currently i am abroad but as soon as i am next to my van will photograph the vin plates
