Hi people, (especially the technically gifted amongst you!).
I'm prepping my R4GTL (1986) for its mot, and came accross the dreaded rust around the area where the torsion bar passes through the outer mounting bracket.
It's actually the round part that's rusting, bad enough for chunks to come away.
Is it safe to effect a repair with a liquid steel type of resin?
I've looked through the Oracle (Haynes) and I can't find any 'real' information as to how it's held together, nor what lies underneath the metal.
Is there a bush under there, a bearing?
As always, any help gratefully received.
Rudi.
