For the moment im just going to do the basics for the MOT and a few bits of bodywork and run it for the rest of the summer/autumn and then decide how far to go on it...but at least ive saved another one..

Hey Andrew, what a little beauty, well done pal. No excuses now for not going to Thenay next year eh. See you on Tuesday, and looking forward to a ride in your new addition to your fleet.:D
I reckon it's crying out for the Renault service van treatment.

Brittany car. Where I will be on Tuesday evening

Hi Mike...yes so ive been told...region 56..

Have a safe trip

I went down west today to see Andrews' new acquisition, and I can report it is a little cracker, the bodywork is really good, engine compartment is amazingly sound as is the chassis. Andrew started it up and it ticks over like the preverbial Swiss watch. There is a very small amount of welding to do, not surprising as the van is 30 years old, a bit of work to sort out the brakes, and he should with any luck be on the road fairly soon. Hopefully one of its first runs will be to Falmouth so he can drink some of our tea as I'm always drinking his down at AMG Renault.:D
He is sourcing an air filter element and throttle cable for me, for my carb convertion on Marigold, but I still need to find a manifold from a mk 1 R5, reckon they could be like hens' teeth over here.:(

I've just spent a few hours down at Andrews' garage, oil and filter change on Marigold, and adjusting her clutch cable, oh the joy of using a lift to work on her. Andrew is getting there with his F4 van, he's replaced all the steering joints, done some work on the brakes, and is now getting the underside ready for some welding and then rustproofing. When I left there, he was taking the fuel-tank off to rustproof behind it. When Andrew starts taking parts off he gets a bit carried away, he has several 4s in bits, so he is trying to reign himself in and do one area at a time.:D

HAHA...very funny...but very true...fuel tanks off, spare wheel carrier off, all rear brake pipes off, rear brake compensator off...err..thats it at the moment...

Think i will pressure wash the rear end tomorrow as we talked about...the amount of Powderham Castle red mud around there is too much to just scrape off...leave it dry over weekend then.

Sorry about that Andrew, bit cheeky, you are doing a great job. Thank you for the use of your gear today, and the tea.:D
