I've found the full version of "L'amour en 4L"

http://mel222.free.fr/rob/4l.mp3

On ressemble à 2 quenelles, pas belle
Le soir, on voit le jour à l'hôtel
C'est Idem, on a fait ça au clair de lune
Même dans la gare de Bétune
Dans le TGV qui recule, Mais nous on a:

On a besoin d'amour
On a besoin d'amour

On a besoin d'amour
On a besoin d'amour
Besoin d'amour dans une 4L
On veut de l'amour dans une 4L.

On a besoin d'amour
La tête en avant dans la boite à gants
On a besoin d'amour
Les jambes repliées façon plafonnier
Besoin d'amour dans une 4L
Les fesses en avant posé sur le volant
On veut de l'amour dans un 4L
Les bras bien en l'air sur la lunette arrière.

Wow - cool - a song about Renault 4s. La Poste - Can you translate? My French isn't nearly good enough, although I guess there is a lot of love going on in this song.

Listening to that has left me speechless........ Fans of French music will of course know that the original title was XXL, so either it was meant to be about love in a MK III Ford Cortina 1600XL, or maybe in a GTL? Either way, whoever was responsible for printing the song title on the back of the CD case was obviously dyslexic.........

On the subject of songs about R4s, does anyone remember The Chicken Song? I'm sure that there was a line in it about eating a Renault 4. Serge Gainsbourg briefly mentioned them in one of his songs too, although I can't recall the title off the top of my head.

La Poste

It doesn't really work in English, but here is a very rough translation:

We look like 2 quenelles, not pretty
In the evening, we’re born in the hotel
It’s the same, we’ve done it in the moonlight
Even in Bétune station
In a reversing train, but we

We need love
We need love
Need love in a 4L
We want love in a 4L

We tried it on the pavement, to see
We did it straddling a watering can
It’s strange, with Paul and Pauline
Sliding in the wisteria
Among the roses covered in thorns, but we

We need love
We need love
Need love in a 4L
We want love in a 4L

We need love
Head in the glove compartment
We need love
Legs doubled like an interior light
Need love in a 4L
Thighs resting on the steering wheel
We want love in a 4L
Arms in the air, resting on the back window

La Poste

I've added the song to my garage MP3 collection. It's excellent and I love the sound effects. Well found Richard and thanks for the translation La Poste.

Ah well, here goes whatever streetcred I didn't have....

The Chicken Song:

(Useless Fact:
The Chicken Song was written by the same people who write the scripts to Red Dwarf.)

It's the time of year, now that spring is in the air
When those two wet gits, with their girly curly hair
Make another song, for marronic holidays
that nausiate-ate-ates in a million different ways
From the shores of Spain, to the coast of southern France
No matter where you hide, you just can't escape this dance

Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
Paint your left knee green, then extract your wisdom teeth
Form a string quartet, and pretend your name is Keith.

Skin yourself alive, learn to speak araphahoe
Climb inside a dog, and behead an Eskimo
Eat a Renault 4, wear salami in your ears
Cassarole your gran, dis-embowel yourself with spears

The disco is migrating, the sound is loud and grating
It's truly nausiating - let's do the dance again..

Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
Yes you'll hear this song, in the holiday discos
And there's no escape, in the clubs or in the bars
You would hear this song, if you holidayed in Mars

Skin yourself alive, learn to speak araphahoe
Climb inside a dog, and behead an Eskimo
Now you've heard it once, your brain will spring a leak
And though you hate this song you'll be humming it for weeks

Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deck-chair up your nose
Buy a Jumbo-Jet, and then bury all your clothes
la la la la la la la....

Eat one? Didn't some French chap eat a light aircraft some years ago?
