The Renault 4 Super was offloaded from the trailer and moved into the workshop.

The fuel tank was drained. Amazingly the drain bung came undone straight away.

The fuel lines were cleaned through.

The carburettor float bowl was cleaned out but initially found to be clean.

The spark plugs were removed and oil put down the bores.

The engine oil was drained and refreshed.

The engine was turned over by hand to make sure no valves were sticking.

After cleaning the plugs and refitting it was found a good spark was getting to them.

With the float bowl filled with petrol the engine was turned over using a new 6 volt battery.

She fired and then burst into life.

Petrol started to come through the fuel line so this was reconnected to the carburettor.

She then ran on her own perfectly.

After warming her up there were no noises. No leaks of oil. No leaks of water.

She had stood in storage for 24 years.

Next job was to give her a better clean....

How does the rear door open on this model? Or doesn't it? The bumpers seem to be in the way and I can't see any hinges:dontknow:

Wowww! That must have been a realy exiting moment!

Would be handy if post your updates in the same project topic?

cheers!

That rear door is really cool! It looks like the window winds down inside the panel. Some more pictures of it would be great!

It is now living with me in Calne, Wiltshire. I have replaced the brake master cylinder and flexible hoses, a drive shaft and fuel pump. Cleaned and repainted the wheels and fitted new tyres. Removed fuel tank and cleaned. Fitted seat belts. Reassembled dash and got all electrics working, sourced and fitted the correct front bumper and window seals for the rear window. My wife promises she will have a go at making new covers for the bench seat...otherwise it will stay as is, no intention to repaint this solid car with a great patina.

hi. What a fantastic car. My father had one in 68 or 69, and i drove it quite a lot. Loved it.
What seats do you have in it ?
