Hi, just to let you know I have spotted a yellow R4 tl on Ebay. I would be interested, but it is too far away for me and my other half would have a turn if I bought another car.... I know there are plenty of people looking out for R4s to buy so I thought I would let you know.

item number : 280279714010 have a look - its in Newton abott.

Clare x

P.s. I am seriously considering selling my spare R4. I am trying to come to terms with the fact that one person can't have 5 cars, 2 trucks and 4 motorbikes...

Is that really enough? I have approximately 7 R4s, one R5, an MGA and only 1 motorcycle. Though I'm also thinking about rationalising my collection. I reckon if I bought another R4 I would be able to sell at least 3 others and the MG thus reducing their number by several. Not the yellow one though - I want to rationalise by colour too so I can end up with only cars painted in 305 Rejane Blanc.

Im glad that there are others out there suffering from the same affliction. My other half calls it a mental illness??? My collection now consists of: 66 mustang, 72 Jensen interceptor (neither are very P.C.- large engines etc) 2 x renault 4s, interestingly I too have an MGA fixed head coupe (1957) I need to finish putting back together.... a renault goelette 4x4 truck, a nissan D21 4x4 truck (which is not very well!). a Kawasaki Z1000 (1976) a Z650 (1980) Kawasaki ZXR 750 (1989) and a suzuki GSXR 750 (1992). there! I already feel like I have taken part in some sort of therapy and admitted the extent of my problem. at least Im willing to admit it - thats got to be a good start! Clare x

P.s. am thinking of buying a Renault 12 ?? what do we think of these?? (please tell me its not a good idea !!..)

Oh dear, you sound like my Dad!!.... I wanted it... well I dont know why...I just thought it looked like a cheap/handy run-arround (it is an estate) its a 1974 car so not really early enough. It looks to be in good condition. Im keeping its location top secret!! I probably wont buy it because I should be tightening my belt at the moment. This is the second one I have seen recently - just wondered if they are as reliable as the R4's.

Renault 12's are great!!!! When I was a kid the owner of our local Renault garage always had a 12 over the 16, he preferred its ride and always said it was a fantastic car!
I saw a fantastic lime green 16 in the middle of Birmingham yesterday which I did sort of have a drool over as it stood at the traffic lights!

As always with any car of the seventies it'll be rust that will kill it! check the body shell in all the usual areas!

thanks, so the R12 has your blessing - sure, I will take good look for rusty bits... fingers crossed..... Clare

Remember going in one of those in Turkey where they were used as taxis, although it was probably a Dacia version.
Has the new Dacia arrived in the UK yet - massive estate car version looks really useful - barn doors on the back so you could presumably get a pallet loaded in by forklift if you really needed to.:)
Our 'lot' includes
1987 Renault 4, 2 Citroen BX's (one hatch, one estate) 1956 Renault 4cv with monoroue trailer, 1977 Citroen Ami 8, Citroen Relay van, Peugeot J5 van, Renault Trafic Eribacar camper, at least 12 mopeds dating from 1956 to 1976, a Simson Schwalbe Scooter (in bits) - oh and 4 garden tractors. About time we shifted on at least 3 of them!
My theory is that junk / old vehicles expand to fill the space available.

I like the look of the new Dacia (is it Logan?) estate too, they even do a seven seater version of it!

"Our" lot, includes
1953 Morris Oxford Series MO
1972 Volkswagen Bay Window Camper
1984 Renault 4 Tl
1987 Volvo 480ES
2000 Renault Twingo full sunroof version
2003 Kia Sedona, the towing car.

Don't even start me on my cycle collection though!

Severely over car'd here with a single ( wide though) garage.

a) 1120 R4 ( no L mind) 1968 in blue
b) AV48 Mobylette 1962 in cream and chrome
c) Ami 8 Break 1971ish in dark green
d) DS21 bvh 1967 in primrose
e) Acadiane 1982 in red beige and black
f) 2001 diesel scenic in faded red
2x Oxford Allen scythes
1x rotavator of unknown sixties french make

Then there is a local R4 special, the one with retracting rear window the fold-down hatch that is available and slowly getting under our skin....

arghhh!

David

Bluebell - I didn't mean to upset you with the Dad comment!!....

Im glad to see there are so many of you with a larger than normal car collection.

P.s. I have a 1960s Nuffield 465 tractor as well (im not sure if this counts!) Clare x

Not at all Clare. I'm converted now having read everybody's comments. Before, I very mistakenly thought they were a bit ugly, but now I can see why you should want one. Especially if they have lots of space in the back. Go for it! :D

You are right - the 12's are not a patch on the 4's for being cute!! But im sure I could fit the odd bales of hay or large bit of furniture (Local household tip purchase!!) or more large dogs in that boot. Whats the saying "Beauty is as beauty does".

Hi, i had a 12tl car many years ago and it was brilliant, i bought it from an auction in Nottingham, it had been used in Northern Ireland in the 70's for undercover work it had three wheels and it was lime green ( one of it's many colours ) but i resprayed it yet again but blue this time. It was very reliable and quite economical, but i still had my 1968 R4.

cars that we have at the moment -

2 1983 R4 gtl 1108 red ( 1 getting back on the road and 1 for future rebuild ).

1 1985 R4 van 1108 red ( trying to get going at the moment ).

1 1989 R5 monaco 1721 beige ( my car i'm running ).

1 1989 R5 gtx 1721 grey ( rebuilding the engine ).

1 2001 Renault blue 1600 ( my wifes car ).

1 2000 Renault scenic blue 1600 ( engine transplant ).

1 1990 R5 tr green 1200 ( my middle son's ) it's for sale.

1 1994 R5 campus white 1400 ( my eldest son's ).

other than that we are a normal family ?

Did forget to put on my list 2 x iveco 3.5 tonners which i use for my work, one has a winch inside for collection of my purchases and work of course.
