Replacement fuel tank advice please

Just got hold of a new fuel tank for my 1972 4tl to replace my shot old tank. The new one looks like the photo and has the filler neck attached by a rubber connector that clamps to the tank and neck. As the pipe comes out of the tank low down, this joint will be full of fuel, so worried it will leak. Has anyone had experience using one of these tanks, any tips on making sure the join doesnt leak or should I look into welding the filler neck to the tank?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Seems odd to have the filer so low. Has anyone had experience of using the products which coat the insides of a rusty tank?

I have used the coating. I have used it twice and it appears to work very well. Frost Auto Product sell it. its called "Por 15 "
There is a cleaning process, gravel or bolts to get rid of loose stuff, a more aggressive cleaner, drying process, liquid etching, drying and then the coating. Nasty stuff , but does the job.
The tanks I have used had a long bent filler pipe which attaches to the filler opening by a rubber tube and two jubilee clips, and is difficult to fit. Or there is a technique probably.
I have not seen the short neck tank as shown. Might be easier to fit though.
