My R4GTL is fitted with a Sharps radio/cassette which works more or less, and once I've fitted a new roof aerial, should work properly. I tried a couple of gash cassettes in it recently only for them to be chewed up, so I contacted a local specialist who I visited today. In short, spares for these are available but because of their construction can take quite a white, even for a specialist, to get to the crux of the problem, and the repair could cost up to £200. As the period radio/cassette is probably worth a tenth of that, I think I shall give it a miss.
I do have a far more modern Goodmans GCE246 radio/cassette in the workshop which has never been fitted to a car, but the wires coming from the back look far more complicated that those of the old Sharp, so we'll have to forget that idea for a while.
