steering rubber shaft joint

I have cut off the rivets with my dremel I always said I would never have one as I thought they were just gimmicks but with renovating so many cars I have needed one so much:eek: anyway I have also undone the bolts to pull off the shaft.
Do I need to drill out the rivet remains or do they knock out?
I dont want to go banging the shaft with a hammer if its not necessary.

They will probably need drilling to weaken so that you can knock them off, as they are an interference fit in the holes.

Thanks job done CT Passed and yes you are right as always I centre punched them drilled them slightly smaller and they dropped out
