Anyone selling hub for early R4 so I can fit a Momo/Sparco steering wheel?
I can only find to the "newer " cars.
Best regards

All Renault splined steering column ends are the same from 1960s to late '90s, so it's very simple finding a suitable steering wheel hub.

On all sites they have mostly the same cars that they clam it fits.

Renault R30 Turbo Diesel - från 82 framåt

Renault R4 - 11/82 till 93

Renault R5 - 9/81 till 10/84

Renault R5 Alpine Turbo"

Can't find any hubs that is claimed to fit old R4 not in Sweden or abroad.

R8 and R4 definitely have completely different spline. Same with the third Renault steering wheel (R12 maybe) it didn't fit R4 nor R8 so it seems to be a bit of a jungle.

Best regards.

Steering shaft length protruding out of steering column tube is indeed longer on post-83 R4s and "phase 2" R5s, the spline diameter, taper and number of teeth being always the same. Maybe this hub is longer at its rear end and would foul the dashboard or steering column covers on earlier models, so that's why they refer to is as incompatible for these models.
I don't have experience with R12 steering wheels, but some years ago I got a scrap R8 one to make an adapter to fit an early 3-bolt steering wheel on my '75 R4 and used the splied hub of the R8 steering wheel - it is the same spline as on the R4.
