Morning all, just doing my head and checked the protrusion of the liners. 1,2&3 seem to be fine, but no 4 is a bit high- 0.15 on the exhaust side and about 0.7 on the other…
If the others are ok, can I jut take out no4, put in a new at gasket and check it?

Thanks Bowler person. It’s escalated though….surprise !
All 4 out and going to clean up the seats properly, load of cak in there.
By the way, what an arse of a job getting the sump off, just no space at the back to get the angle. Mr Haynes’ manual is particularly comical on this point… oh, you’ll have to remove the arb. Hmmm, and just about everything else under there.
Oh well.

It's a bit easier to remove / reinstall the sum if you take off the two engine mounting nuts and lift engine 3-4 cm. There is always the hard job of holding the rubber sump gasket parts in place as you install the sump (and making sure they have stayed there), so it's better to take out the engine.

Yeah…wishing I had now. Never mind, I jacked it up enough so will do that on the way back in. I’ll take the gearbox mount off as well and lift the whole unit up as far as the drive shafts will allow.
I think I’ll bond the rubbers in place and the corks onto the pan first….and pray!
