Interesting axle stands?

Well Team , the first lot of fun and games happened on Sunday - changing the 'Octopus' on my trusty BX - The Octopus is the low pressure hydraulic return system. Citroen in their wisdom decided to install it in THE most awkward place on any car in the world and it is really difficult to change as Pepper will testify.

Well I am lucky enough to have Michael the Magician and his lovely Nan June staying with me at the moment so as Sunday was such a lovely day we decided to start work and use Natures Own Workshop.

To start with Michael and I lifted the front of the car while June installed the wooden axle stands one by one. Once in position it was, to quote Michael - 'going to be a piece of cake'

Three hours later with barely a bead of sweat on our foreheads and with very dirty fingers, the job was done and dusted.

Brilliant job - thank you so much Michael and June for letting me into the secret of changing a BX Octopus, the easy way and if any of you are Health and Safety Officers, we know exactly what you will say about the wheel axles:

'AS SAFE AS A SUPPORT SYSTEM AS WE WILL EVER SEE'.

Correct?

Hehehe! One way of doing it!

What a pain it is! I normally prefer to lift the engine up and out of the way slightly!

Well done Mike, you've saved me a job and kept another fantastic car on the road!

Road Test

Decided this morning that as it was raining that we would take the BX for a bit of a road test but after half an hour we could smell fish - we stopped the car in a village and checked to see what the problem was.

Would you believe it, a fresh mackerel had become lodged across the exhaust manifold and the engine bulkhead and that of course was the source of the smell.

Not quite believing our luck, Michael suggested buying some bread and we both had a lovely cooked mackerel sandwich in a small village, the name of which escapes me at the moment.

I recognise that house you're parked outside!

Surely the village is Tallud Ste Gemme?

Nearest good bakery though is in Mouilleron En Pareds just down the road. the artisan baker there is highly recommended! Yum Yum!
