yes one more, i will upload it tonight

Is that a yellow/orange R4 on the left in the second photo?

What is the Citroen in the penultimate photo?

Did you see many R4s?

What is the Citroen in the penultimate photo?

Citroen LNA. A 3-door Peugeot 104 with the 652cc flat-twin Visa engine. There was also the earlier LN recognized from its chrome bumpers that had the 602cc 2CV engine.

Not a real success for Citroen, but over here it was, as it fell into a very favourable tax category, while offering modern (for late 70s) looks.

Thanks Angel, I don't think that I've ever seen one before!

yes saw loads or r4's about, more citroens though.

The lna also had the Visa 1124cc engine and i have had 4 engish ones. i know of 1 for sale at the moment for £350 taxed and tested.

they are fab cars, if you sit at 65mph they will easily do 60 mpg.

orange car in the second pic is a simca

Fantastic pictures! I'm a massive Citroen Ami fan having had 3 so love that one the most, but liking greatly the 4CV LNA 652 (well worth getting as they're ridiculously cheap) and of course the inevitable R4! H van, Simca <sighs> want them all!

Surprised you saw more Citroens than Renaults though, used to be the case that 4s outnumbered 2CV derivatives. Any Renault 6s?

They're probably okay but to drive (and actually looks wise) I'd choose an Estafette any day! I know quite a few H van owners & ex owners who loved theirs though. That I don't know any Estafette drivers only increases their appeal to me:)

H vans are great fun to drive - no question!
We had a lwb panel van converted into a camper, and for a van designed in the late 40's it would cruise all day at 55 mph, not something you could do in Austin / Ford or Bedford vans of the day!
I don't think the H van and Estafette are really too comparable - the H is a much bigger vehicle, with a reasonably powerful engine. It was also very adaptable, the variety of different configurations still around is testament to that.
Its also, with some exceptions, relatively easy to work on, I would much rather change a clutch in an H van than a Renault 4 for example, it can be relatively easily accomplished in a morning on the Citroen, without removing either the engine or the gearbox, whether this was as a reult of a happy accident or the design was just 'right' from the word go I'm not qualified to say.
We have now acquired 'Hercules' - a 1966 cattle truck or betailliere, a very popular H van conversion - I suspect not many Estafette horse boxes were made!
Looks are a matter of opinion, we both of us like both the vans, but from a purely usable point of view the H van wins hands down - a load capacity of up to 1500 kg puts some modern vans to shame.

There is a man who drove a H van from France to Vietnam with his son about 4-5 years ago.
