Where’s the bonnet release?

Hi there! This lovely Renault 4 came with a house I bought in Spain. Needs a bit of work, will make a fab project for someone. However, at the risk of sounding ridiculously silly...I can’t find the bonnet release. Where should I be looking?

I was worried the local MoT wouldn't find the bonnet release (it is hard to spot), so I tied a suitably annotated label on mine. It's still there a year on too.

Once you've found the bonnet release button, you need to PUSH (not PULL) to operate the mechanism that's on the engine side of the bulkhead. If the button is missing, there may just be a sharp rod sticking out. If this is the case, push a champagne cork (or Spanish alternative) on the rod to pop the bonnet!
