Most of us just have plain Jane R4s, but I guess there must be a lot of Oddball cars on the forum. Project or finished car or maybe just a wreck. Or maybe a ordinary car modified to Oddball.
Hopefully we get some who wants to write some about their car and post some pictures.
Today we got some info and pics on Tropic Cabrio in that thread, I hope we get lots of answers in this thread, Plein Air, Sinpar, R3, pick-up, limo, shorty, dresser custom etc, etc.

It’s not a Plein-Air as they weren’t imported into the UK.

It’s a kit/conversion that was offered for a short while in the 80’s. I’ve seen the Malibu conversion mentioned on this forum in the past.

I’ve had a browse of the documentation and here is the article (Kitcars and Specials from December 1987) describing the Malibu kit and a transformed vehicle.

Also a couple of photos of my Malibu in a previous iteration. With the bull bar kit and some “period alloys”

Mine was rebuilt by Simon Pocklington of Renault Reborn during Covid. It now looks “more period” with R4 chrome bumpers, over riders and R5 Le Car wheels. It does have half doors and a hood which do go on for the winter, although it does require scarf, gloves and hat to make it drivable then as the heater only warms your left foot.
