Were there really no R4s made in 1990 and 1992? It seems to list only Y (for Yugoslavia) in 1991.

Still a bit puzzled about 1961?
All car produced 1-134758 of R1120 model is a1962.
The so called "1961" is that cars of yearmodel 1962 but produced in 1961? A bit confusing!
Mine is 99526 what year and month is it produced?

As the production numbers start with a 1 in 1962, and the model year production started the middle of the previous year, then whilst the cars were actually produced in 1961, they may have been included as a 62 year within Renaults system. Hence nothing recorded for 1961. With this way of recording model year info 1961 numbers could have meant 1960 actual production. . Maybe 1961 cars were pre production cars up to 1st Aug when they became part of 1962 production and numbering.
I have the production numbers, which include 19500 cars for 61 and 24 fourgonette's which I will load later.

May 1981, it was not something having to do with model year change in August.
Advertisement photos of a pre-production Jogging (April-May 1981) show it with apparent door hinges, while mine, built in May 23rd 1981, has concealed hinges.

We need to find that information out so we can assemble a definitive set of facts and information concerning the cars for the Forum. I have extracted info from the guide to the renault 4 by Berthonnet pub in French 2013 by ETAI. Maybe we could assemble all these bits, maybe in another forum heading category, for us all to draw on.

Someone mentioned getting a certificate about the history of a cars origin from Renault Classic.

I tried following the links but It seems like they’re only providing this service for vehicles with VINs beginning with VF. Happy to be proven mistaken.

Try contacting them by email. Last time I got a certificate was in 2006, there was no online application back then and the only way to obtain it was to email the "right"person. But they keep old archives for sure, I got a certificate for as early a car as a 1956 4CV.

yes. thats my interpretation too.

Then we know RHD cars was made early in the production. Then there is big potential of a lot of early cars on this forum.
