@AdamWilkes.... It's true, I was running the pipes unrestricted, but now I am just too tired to keep on with the experiment, and since the car runs well without the return, I think I will stick to stock-mode. It is also great to know of your electric pump option, in case I ever change my mind...

Update on return pipe mod. The return pipe, I had fitted on my r4 served me quite well, but only on level ground or going downhill. Got amazing fuel consumption rates, but I had to get rid of it because once the fuel in the tank dropped below half, I could not drive uphill. I am not sure why...

Thanks Seedc... the inverter helps a lot. With the numerous power blackouts around here, I am always guaranteed of somewhere to charge my laptop.

Great news guys! Finally, after lots of frustration, I decided to try the return pipe suggestion. Put a 't' splitter immediately after the fuel pump, one outlet heading back to the tank and other to the carb. This fix allowed me to do an astonishing 47mpg. I have no idea why this would work...

Hi Mojobaby, Seedc, I confirmed the flap opening was all way out and valve clearance was as required, but the car still drinks like a sailor. Anything else you think I should check?

Thanks for these tips JdeW... I might have to undo the entire suspension and do it using the sequence you have provided. I tightened the top wishbone first then proceeded to do the car height. Iwill also check the rear drum brakes, could also be the issue. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks SJC... finally fit the front stabilzer bar, but car still loses height at the front on reverse... strange behaviour, but I have decided I can live with it, as it gets proper height in front gear, at least until I find the issue. I also had issues with torsion bars, car would lose height...

Celebrations came too soon Petak... now facing a new problem... when I engage reverse, the front wheels collapse into the fenders... but rise when moving forward... Really frutstrating this restoration process
