1990 R4TL carb

Hi, I think that I have sorted out the carb and have now turned my attention to ignition. The dwell of about 80* is to high, I think that should be about 50* what should the points gap be? About .50mm? Also how the heck do you access the points, does the plastic cover prize off? don't want to force or damage anything

Hi there,
Points gap should be 0,40mm
And even a little closer if they have burned in.

Then you end up with a dwell angle of about 56°

To get at the points, take of the rotor (it may take some force)
The plastic cover lifts of easily.

Regards, Robert

Go the dwell down to about 58 before points close completely. Will probably order a new set of points. Tomorrow hope to get car in garage to check and probably reset timing. Not the easiest car i have had to work on!
