Festival Renault - Montlhery 22-23 Sept 2012

Bonjour, Steve et moi aussi! (pre registered)

Thinking of an evening ferry Friday, hotel and dinner (Moules!) near Calais and set off around 8-9am following 6 croissants, two of which must contain cheese and ham.

Yep... looking forward already :p:p

Mark and Steve

Thought there might be a plan guys. Reckon I'll catch the Plymouth-Roscoff ferry on the Wednesday and then have a nice meander through the minor roads, weekend at the event and then trundle back to catch the ferry on the Tuesday afternoon, perhaps take the tent and make a holiday of it.

Hmmmm. I'll do Dover - Calais ferry. Not sure when yet. I quite fancy a ferry on Friday morning which would give me chance to either have a meander around for scrapyards / go see a supplier north of Paris / do a bit of shopping then hotel Friday night.

Not sure if my Friday night hotel should be somewhere near the venue though. Hotel Friday / Saturday possibly Sunday as well then come back home either Sunday evening or Monday morning.

I know September is a long way off, but hope more of you folks out there can join us.

I'm not sure yet which route I'll take, though I have compared the options. Apart from Plymouth-Roscoff, they are all comparable in price, so it's down to how much I want to drive, the convenience of sailing times and the possibility of meeting people.

I was considering this -

P&O Ferries said:
Outward Dover - Calais Fri 21 Sep 2012 09:25 £30.00
Return Calais - Dover Sun 23 Sep 2012 17:55 £35.00
Includes 1 adult , 1 infant , Car up to 1.8m high

Total price
£65.00

Given Dover isn't that much further from me than Portsmouth I might as well do the cheaper ferry crossing. I'd prefer P&O to DFDS / LD at Dover tbh - nicer ships, more frequent and more reliable service and only an extra £7.

An overnight Portsmouth - Caen would be quite nice but also quite pricey. Have to do a bit more thinking.

Sounds good fun, but think I will give it a miss, too much to do this year !
Aiming to do UK events, hopefully do something next year.

Dear all,

Further to the talks held during our March 24th meeting and given the level of subscriptions reached at the end of April, Renault has decided to postpone the date of the 1st Renault Festival from the 21st and 22nd of September 2012 tothe 20th and 21st of July 2013.

Postponing the Renault Festival will allow us to move away from a very intensive period in terms of classic events during the second half of 2012 andwill give you more time to prepare this event for which your contribution is essential.

The discussions we’ve had so far and the encouraging level of subscriptions – though not in line with the objectives we had agreed to – show that Renault enthusiasts throughout Europe support the Renault Festival project and approve the choice ofthe Linas-Montlhéry Autodrome as the first venue.

This is why the Renault Festival will naturally take place at this same location on July 20th and July 21st 2013.

Organising the 1st Renault Festival in 2013 will also coincide with the115th anniversary of the Renault Company and reinforce federative appeal of this event.

Subscriptions for the Renault Festival will be open from November 2012.

We will get back to you very soon to study different possibilities for your Clubs to actively contribute to the Renault Festival and celebrate the 115th anniversary of Renault.

I have no doubt that Renault can count on your renewed commitment and enthusiasm.

Best regards.

Renault Classic Team

PS : people who already subscribed will receive a message about refunding within the next few days.

Just read that on RCCC forum.

What I'm wondering is will this have any effect on 4L International 2013. In the current 4L Mag they mention they are working with Renault Classic and Melun Retro to ensure 4L International goes ahead next year. Might it be that 4L International is held at the same place and time as Festival Renault?
Be a pity if they had two big events a couple of weeks apart from each other. I'd rather do 4L International I think.

Certainly wouldn't want to book Festival Renault much in advance for next year though, can't imagine I'll be getting my charges for bank transfer back as well as my ticket price.

Ho hum.
