Hi there I may have access to a Gordini engine and transmission from a Renault 5 mk1. Would this be an easy/sensible/realistic conversion for a R4? I imagine the gear change conversion be the hardest.
Are there spares still avilable?
Gearchange is the easiest bit if you use a different 5 speeder. Steering column is the fiddly one (assuming you use the R4 or TX gearbox - the Gordini box is about 6 inches too long).
Have a look at my conversion to see the potential troubles. Well worthwhile - they are lovely engines.
