the car was sold to me as a 1975 renault r4 TL with a 1.1 25kw the engine number matches paperwork but the aluminium tag is screwed on to the engine so the actual engine could be different, also i have been searching and as i understand it a 1975 r4 couldnt come with a 1.1 engine

It's one of the 'Billancourt' engines (845cc and down), so not a 1.1.
The 'Cléon' engines were 852cc and up - most frequently 1108cc. The 852 engine is rare outside Spain.

The first 1.1 engines in Renault 4s did appear in 1975, but not in 'cars' - they were fitted to R2370 and R2430 vehicles (the former eventually became known as the F6).
The first 1108 engines were fitted to 4GTL cars from January 78.

thanx for info, is there a way to identify this engine even further, my intentions are to buy a gasket set for it and figure out displacement/how much kw it should have
