Project Claude

Little more done today, removed the fuel tank and I was going to remove the rear suspension but the rear shock bolt is seized on so I guess that’ll need cutting out!
Also the rear brake bias valve? Holder has seen better days!
So I made a start on the body work, managed to get the drivers rear wing off...what an absolute faff that was! And removed some of the lower c pillar metal so I can get a good look at what needs to come out, made a patch panel up (I’m not a pro and I know it’s not 100% perfect but it’ll do the job!)
Next thing will be to cut it to shape and finally get some new metal welded in there!

The fun part really has started. Nice metal shaping skills by the way just as I like to see it.
And as for the chassis metal thickness, beams are 1.6 mm zinccore and sheet material approx 1.2 mm zinccore.
Keep it up.

Your panel looks fine to me, now to let it in which i always find to be the harder part. The hole becoming a little bigger or less regular a shape than i had intended. At least you will soon feel that first sense of achievement and be on the start of the long road to when all such repairs are completed and you are ready for the refitting. Goof luck and stay with it.

Well we may have a small issue, just been told (after 2 months) I may be using my unit due to the owner selling up! So if I can’t find something fast Claude may lose his home and I’ll be forced to sell him on, or sell parts
Fingers crossed!!!!

Unfortunately after having a conversation with the owner this morning I’m going to be using my unit in the next week! So unfortunately this is the end of project Claude! I don’t have time to put him back together and sell as a whole so I’ll be stripping him and bringing the parts home and sell them off!
I’m devastated to say the least, we’ve only had him a few months but me and the kids have had some great fun working on him. Thanks to all of you for you kind words and help along the way!
Dave

Nooo! Very bad news:(:(. I hope you can find another place to continue your project. Would be a shame to sell her in parts. Bleh... :(

That's just to sad to read that you have to stop restoring your R4 in this early fase, due to loosing your unit. Would have love to follow the whole restoration of Claude but maybe you'll find another in the near future.
Regards, Joop

They always say that you can't kill and eat a chicken once you've given it a name. So I really hope that you find another place to work so that you can finish Claude with your kids.
Long live Claude!!

Is it not possible to find another lock-up in the area into which you can store everything for a time? I realise the car's in bits but the members of this forum would suffer a similar affliction if this project came to a halt for want of a lock-up! Mine's empty at the moment, but as it's in north London that's probably b^%$£@r all use to you-sorry!

Thanks all, unfortunately lock ups are like rocking horse **** to get hold of around here, I have even tried contacting the council about renting one of their garages but the waiting list is around 18-24 months!

Hi Dave what area are you in. I know of an excellent lock up garage with loft space as well, right next to my double.
