Thanks Malcolm. The panel is a lot worse than it looks in the photo. The bottom end is mainly held together with paint over filler. I have a new one that I hope to fit.It is welded on. Yours doesn't look bad enough to replace. I've welded up holes in the seam in the past, but if that's normal possible there is nothing much wrong with a bit of filler/ fibreglass/ bit of beer can glued on possibly applied from the inside and sealed on the outside after the seam has been cleaned up and painted
Very helpful. Thanks MalcolmThere is a description of the replacement process here: https://www.renault4.co.uk/gordini-apex-repair.htm
Maybe a modern adhesive would work but I don't know of anyone who has tried that.
Thanks Q plate. Do you have details/link of the blue 4 undergoing work here.I have this repair to do when I get there as currently working fom the back to the front. I had a picture saved from here with a blue 4 undergoing work and they'd kept the upper section of the panel & just cut the lower 1/3 off which I'm hoping to do with mine providing it's not completely rotten. Should be fairly easy to put a step in the lower repair panel & lip it under. With regards to adhesives we used to bond heavy metal sunroof trays into vehicles with a product called Permabond it was a 2 part adhesive you brushed the activator onto one surface & ran the glue along the other had about 20 mins working time.
Thanks for the photo.Found the picture.. I dont have any more info sorry just the pic as a reminder of how to try & repair it
Regards AL
