My 92 Clan has had it's rear end, 'Dropped' by around 40 mm, by my reckoning. I'd like to raise it back. Is it possible to do this by marking the torsion bars, relative to their mountings, and rotating 'X' amount of splines, instead of using the threaded tool, that substitutes the shock absorbers? Also my outer suspendion arm mounts are showing some quite serious corrosion, are these easily replaced, I know the bushes need pressing in etc...I'd replace them complete. Cheers, Paul.

Morning Paul, Im new to R4s so there'll be better replies. Ive had a number of old VWs so understand your thinking re the splines but I think you'll struggle that way. La4desylvie has a good tutorial on this & mounts along with lots of info on here. I thought the tool & setting up looked a headache but I managed to cobble something together getting threaded bar & the shackle adjuster bit from toolstation. Its quite quick/straightforward to do once you get into it. Hardest part was hammering the torsion bars free again that had only been refitted 6 months previous with grease. Not sure about replacing the outer mounts in situ I had to drop mine out complete to repair the inner & outer chassis.
