My reward for helping has been to become the proud ? owner of these 2 which have been standing at least 20 years
Based on 1980 gtl 4 chassis and mechanics hopefully I can get one back to a working vehicle

The chassis doesn't look that bad. I guess being a Rodeo the floor is stuffed?

How long do you think it will take? If I get mine finished we can surprise everyone with double Rodeos at the Kent run.

managed to get the green one to run after changing the starter motor and pouring some duck oil down carb as acess to plugs is not as good as normal 1108 4
still a bit slow so decided 24v might work it fired up and ran perfectly once I readjusted points from 37 degree dwell angle believed to have stood since at least 2000 with ct sticker ending in 96
the pictures are of the orangey red shell being dismantled today there have been some interesting bodge repairs done more pics to follow

video link of careful moving green one as no brakes Rodeo parking:

Once the bulkhead was unbolted I decided to unbolt rear suspension complete after loading on trailer to save having to load bare chassis I used my engine crane to raise the rear end so the axle would drop out easily I started to undo bolts when rear chassis broke next to the bodged shocker mount
Obviously I was keeping clear but still surprised me . The bodge on rear arm mounting was also quite interesting as there was not a single welded repair on whole car only ally plates pop rivets maybe they were worried of setting plastic on fire
Final development was when I rang Andrew Lewis asking if he wanted any parts mentioned the front chassis perfect so ended up cutting it all up and loading the rusty bits in a scrap megane
Ps there was a lot of sweeping upto do as well

Had a stroke of luck yesterday a friend called by my work yesterday for diagnostic test remembered he worked for glazing company mentioned the need for a rodeo screen half hour later he came back with a present for me

on this car the chassis seems quite solid and will need minimal welding once the body is off i will post more pics fingers crossed as i can't weld and it's got to go somewhere else for welding

I just love this photo.... I can see the eBay advert now... RENAULT 4 in need of sympathetic restoration... Remainder rusted away... Well you will get loads of encouragement from me

Definitely no fuel left in the tank but nothing too drastic
These pics from Monday had the rotary wire brush on it today but forgot to take pics

Having been nearly asleep last night when I wrote a few words to accompany the above pics checking today seems when I hit edit to remove duplicate pics I lost it all
Basically ended up volunteering to display rodeo at the nec show on renault owners club stand at the weekend I decided to a frame it as it is under 750kg and is legal as an unbraked trailer
I'd did have to fit new swivel for its journey though and nothing fell off in its travels

You are a brave chap well done with the display. I imagine rodeos are very rare. I don't really recall ever having seen one before. Very stylish!

And your chassis despite suffering the humility of being parked in a skip is really coming on and looking great. Are those Franzose pre fab repair panels?
