Speedometer not working

HA0(zero not O ;)) 146 or HA0-150 gearbox indeed, cog ratio is 9x16 ( 9 on the worm and 16 on the spindle) and normally metal on metal or plastic on plastic

Where the bits are missing there is suposed to be a worm drive.
If my memory serves me well. The worm wasn’t included in andy’s Link.

That metal cog might be the reason that the plastic worm has been destroyed.

OK. So I need to get a metal worm drive or plastic worm drive and matching plastic spindle drive.
Where do I go from here?

You need Renault parts 7700623376 and 7700623377 those parts are not made aftermarket and NOS is pretty hard to find but not impossible.

Otherwise you replace the complete gearbox.
Possible resources and advertisments for HA0 146 gearbox are:

http://www.renospeed.co.uk (don't know if they do parts but just phone or email them)

In France (home of the R4) where I find and found loads of parts:

https://www.4l-land.com/products/boite-de-vitesse-motorisation-cleon2/

https://www.leboncoin.fr/equipement_auto/1560975275.htm (could be a 146 just email them);

https://www.leboncoin.fr/equipement_auto/1520001450.htm (a 146);

https://www.palace-de-lancienne.com/products/boite-de-vitesse-hao-146-pour-renault-4l-gtl (very reliable seller)

There are over 27 million Cleon engines build so a suitable HA0 gearbox could found as well.

Spindles can be found new.
I can ask our local Renault dealer.
There is a NOS supplier that they deal with.
They found some unlikely things for me.

That would be great, thanks again, hopefully they have the parts and we can get Rosie on the road with a working speedo.

Hi. Harbourseal say's Jurjenz's engine runs in the opposite direction, therefore spindle won't work correctly if I am reading post right.
If it is possible to get both parts from 1 place that makes life a lot easier, hopefully harbourseal can source both for me, I will wait and see. Cheers

All sorted now, just 10mph out at 30, car reads 40. Thanks for help. Cheers

My speedo reads about the same, and comparing speedo/GPS/manual calculations :
Up to 100 - speedo reads from 6-10 kph less than GPS
100-160 - speedo reads about 12 kph less than GPS
However, calculating exact distance over time puts the REAL speed right in the middle between speedo and GPS.
I can live with it :)

My speedo needle is a bit curved due to plastic fatigue, so I always adapt my driving speed to every other road user whether I drive on Non-primary roads, Primary roads, Motorways or the Nürburgring.
I live by that :D
