Hi Peoples . Can anyone tell me the tappet/valve clearances for my car . It's a 1972 Spanish built Renault R4s .
The numbers on the Bulkhead oval plate are :- FASA - RENAULT . R-1125-S 095273 . Plus on the diamond shaped plate it has BILLANCOURT and stamped type R1125 AND A SERIAL NUMBER . 9295673

HI - well worth a look at this page: https://www.renault4.co.uk/forum/threads/hello-from-spain.1904/ as it points to some information you might find interesting.

I have an 'Autopress' workshop manual and a 'Haynes' workshop manual - they both suggest 6 thou (0.15mm) for inlet valve; 8 thou (0.20mm) for exhaust valve - cold engine. This is for the 747cc, 845cc and 1108cc engines, at least.

See my recent ebay listings for the above manuals, if they are of interest to you: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264791608338 (newer Haynes manual) and https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264791614491 (older Autobook manual)

Thanks for the reply but my engine seems a bit different and I did buy a manual off eBay and it has everything but my motor . I need to be sure so I'll keep searching for the correct info .
Thanks again

You were right it was very interesting but I'm still unsure about the clearances so I'll have to keep reading .

The RTA gives the following clearances for the 813-02 engined R2108 (marketed in France): In: 0.15mm, Ex: 0.20mm (cold) - the same as for the 1108 engines (Cléon).

I think this manual will be more useful:

https://www.ebay.es/itm/RENAULT-4-R...029847?hash=item5b6fff5ad7:g:OiMAAOSwbEReZq3r

None of the R4 manuals in English I know of has any detailed information about the 813-02 engine.
Thank you for the information but I'm still unsure about the clearances so I will have to keep searching . Regards

I've always set all r4 valve clearances to the figures given above 747 845 956 1108 1289 1397 cc

When you're in doubt about the valve clearances info given by @mr-reno-139 , @Andy McGhee , @AdamWilkes here above, which is correct for all standard R4 (Billancourt and Cleon) engines, than please post a picture of your engine which seems "a bit different".

Thanks people but I still need an accurate answer to question .
Please help
When looking for an accurate answer, you provide the accurate information.
Post a picture of the engine and Engine plate please, the plaque oval and plaque losange tells nothing about the currently installed engine, maybe someone in the past changed the engine.

And here http://www.allez-y.info/ you find a lot about FASA R4's

So an early type small edition produced Sierra engine the 813-02.

The engine type 813-02 does not have 845 but 852cc. It was delivered in the Spanish R1125 (the basic version, and also the R1125S (Super) which would later be renamed R1125TL), from 1968 to 1982, first had 35 hp (5200 rpm), then 32 hp (5000 rpm).

Also installed in the R4F4 surélevée. The R2108 was built in Spain (in various forms, such as R2108 (normal), R2108S (raised and also exported to France) or R2108SA (increased with side windows) from 1968 to 1982, and always with 852cc engine.

Those early type engines do not have an oil filter installed.
813-02 engine, 852cc, bore 61,4mm, stroke 72mm, compression ratio 8:1, all valve clearances add +0.05mm as mentioned earlier in this topic
