Very nice work till now, can't wait to see it finished :)

How is R4 doing now? Any progress?

Thank you Janko for your kind words.

About R4, slowly and steadily strive to big end!

Right now i am preparing engine auxiliary equipment (alternator, starter, fuel pump....) bolts, nuts and brackets for galvanizing, and powder-coating. And preparing front wheel/brake parts for mounting on chassis.

1.water pump (new one is waiting in box)

2. alternator belt tensioner

5. front side bracket (gerabox)

6. alternator bracket

7. other bracket around the car (front bumper, radiator, front seats, air filter holder and cover, rear fog light, oil sump protection)
P1080308.jpg

8. instead of ham, sausage and prosciutto ham, i have brake calipers, wheel hubs hanging around my tavern...;)

1 to 7 are send for galvanizing and now i am waiting to get them back
number 8 is painted and ready to be mounted .
And that is about it.

stay tuned

rear axle prepared for assembling

P1080388.jpg

P1080389.jpg

Actually rear axle is on car already but i do not have picture of it.
I forgot to take a picture because it was so hard to join rear axle and chassis together. And after i have done it i did not care about taking pictures.
My father helped me to tense torsion bars so that holes align.

Is that normal or i have done something wrong?

I am asking this because rear chassis legs are made from scratch according to my drawings.

For now i think that rear chassis legs are made correct, but i am still waiting for final confirmation after whole car is finished and wheels are checked with computer

This will be totaly new car! I hope you will do car as soon as posible. Can you tell as plans for the car, style, color...?

Thank you Alive

From the beginning plan was to make new R4:)

From outside it will be as standard as possible with exception for summer time wheels.

Metallic blue paint (code495) with gray bumpers and trims.

For inside plan is better sound/temp insulation all around the cabin (firewall, doors, floor, roof)
Some more electrical comfort for driver and passengers.
And neoprene upholstery for seats.

And that is all!

My only condition is to last for next 25 years

How will you do sound isolation? I am also thinking to do that on some parts of the car. Is there some cheap but strong solution? :-)

sounddamping R4 floor pans

You have pm.

I did use 4mm's bitumen sheets for floor noise damping, tokk of old hairy bitumen stuff which only sucked water.

I think result was good enough and also stiftened the floor after repair.

working order was the following:
- floor mats off
- old hairy stuff off
- sand blasting
- welding material to
- welding seams cleaning
- zink primer+top coat matt black
- bitumen mats
- sealing seams with bitumen
add some photos:
- before sand blasting
- after painting
- finished work
