    R4 restoration made in France

Congrats Alexandre - Great work as we are used to see from you. The Holts' is just some kind of a plastic-refresher. It usually lasts a few weeks maximum. No way around painting the plastic parts, I'm afraid. I did that with my front window-frames (black mat) and it looks so much better...

Distibutor timing notch on flywheel? where?

Sounds to me that you have to decrease the gap between the points. Weak running engine - weak spark - too less of a charge of the ignition coil. Can all be solved with a decreased gap in the points! The smaller the gap the longer the points are closed (4 times per revolution). The longer...

Grill / Calandre Aluminium Long wanted

Views - I have to admit, that I was tempetd to convert my 85 F6 to the old grille. Hence all the stuff that I bought. I even have to admit that I actually had mounted that grille for what was exactly two days. Figured that it was too much of a clashing with a style and ruefully changed back to...

Distibutor timing notch on flywheel? where?

Hi Sprackers, according to my '86 Renault engine manual the 688 engine will need the following advance curves: 0 deg. @ 1200 rpm 5-9 deg @ 2000 rpm 32-36 deg @ 5000 rpm It will need the D61 vacuum advance unit, not the C33. In the manual there's no difference between GTL and TL...

    Wanted a Steering rack

I have one. From a 1985 R4F6 LHD. Needs a good cleaning and new rubber steering boots (2 brand new included with the offer) other than that it is in perfect working order with no noticeable play or wear. I'm asking 65 Euros. Shipping is not a problem. PM me if you are interested...

Distibutor timing notch on flywheel? where?

Some more bad news ... I think you have the wrong distributor. :? With the GTL engine you would need the R244D61 Distributor to have the correct advance curve. The R324C33 distributor's advance curve will not match the GTL specifics. It is from the 688-11 / C1EJ718 engine off the R4F6...

Distibutor timing notch on flywheel? where?

I agree with Mojo, You'll need a cap that fits the Ducellier. Attached is a Picture of my old Ducellier with a proper cap fitted ... You see - No gap at all. To swap the Ducellier for the Femsa be aware of that the Ducellier has to be mounted 180 degrees off the position of the Femsa...

Distibutor timing notch on flywheel? where?

The opening in the gearbox's bell housing is located right behind the long, thin, dirty rubber hose on the right of your pictures. There you'll see the flywheel, there you'll find all the timing marks you need. Take this thread as a reference...
