Vandals! Hooligans!

I did a stint in France last year, that's how I caught the Renault bug and brought Felicia back with me :)

Does Felicia still have the French license plates?
I remember my car's and other people's tyres being slashed during the 90s as well as other damage done to the cars when we left them in public car parks, even on campus. And I'm afraid it was always the cars with the French or German license pates.

Yes, French plates. I'm pleased to say she gets much more love than hate, but there's always a few crazies I guess. Just a couple of days ago one of my girlfriend's colleagues put a photo on facebook captioned "The coolest car in Bath", and she didn't know who it belonged to :)

Same happened to me few months ago....

Prising out the door frame like that was quite common at one time, especially when car stereos were often after market types and could be sold on the black market.
A friend of mine had an Escort XR3i lookalike stolen that way. They must have wondered what was wrong with it when they drove it off. It was only an 1100!!
I have also read that tipping a small light car (R4, 2CV) on its side was a way of stealing petrol at various times. Its probably expensive enough to warrant that again now.

My driver door has some old damage where it was prised open like that before I bought the car. Because of that it doesn't shut completely and makes a lot of noise on the motorway! I'm thinking of fitting a little toggle clasp at the top to hold it shut, easier and cheaper than a new door!

Good guess, but they tipped it the other way, so the petrol cap was on top.

I m sad to see those pictures guys. And I dont understand. I try but I cant.

I love English!

This quote above can be taken two ways, either you can't understand why people are doing this to our cars, or you are trying to turn one over and haven't been able to succeed yet.

Felicia's been vandalised again :( Worse damage this time; they managed to tip her onto a concrete post which went through the side window. Looks like I'm getting the train to work since the soonest I can get new windows cut is Tuesday.
I've moved her even further away from the road and am contemplating moving house, to one with a garage.

The battery's been leaking acid while upside down, and I'm not sure what to do about that. Can I top it up with deionised water or do I need to buy acid? To top it off, I got some on my trousers and it made a big hole :(

Pepper suggested spreading black grease around the "hand holds" below the sills, though I'd be more tempted to go with razor wire at this point...

Bassa's, If you see them next time dont phone Dibble, Just follow them and find where they live, Dont get mad get even, I know taking the law into your own hand is frowned upon, But their isnt a law for this sort of thing, hooligans only understand a 3"x 2" round the nads, Sorry if i sound Clint Eastwood but there you go,
Its hard enough keeping an old car on the road without this,

This is a totally sickening sight Tom - my heart goes out to you as I know how passionate you are about the car.

I have just showed the photos to my mainland Chinese guest who is staying here and he is appalled when I told him the perpetrators will get away with it. In China they would have to undergo 2 months of 're-education' that would not be very pleasant!

I think some items of manhood could be removed too - the barstewards..........

Damn bastards! Just wish you had caught them doing it. It's a Friday night thing after one too many beers. Poor Felicia!

There's absolutely no reason to do something like that, perhaps you should consider fitting a car alarm seeing its the second time that its happened. Perhaps an alarm that vaporizes everything in a 2 meter range!

Words fail me Tom, these "people" are the lowest of the low, the gutter would be too good a place for them. I'm so sorry to see what they have done to Felicia this time, but don't let the bastards win. Regards Brian.

rubbish :(

I have plenty of side windows if you want one tho the distance is a pain.

Chuck lots of water on where the acid has gone - worried it might take the paint off and make the car rust long term.

Anyway you can park it in between other cars in the future ?

At least it looks like the same side :(

First chassis painted with Anti Vandal paint ?

Chain it to the floor at night. Sounds silly but it w

I have doused everything with water, it's the battery itself I'm not sure about.

Andrew, you won't believe it but it was parked between another car and that hedge.

I think the most important thing is to keep her out of sight now, as it will stop those people whose thought process goes "Ooh shiny thing, lets break it". The local kids will be devastated though, I hear them walking past and asking "mummy, where's the pencil car gone?".

If you have any doubts about the battery why not remove it from the car, top it up with distilled water, and put it on charge. Keep an eye on it and see if it holds it's charge. Yes I think the time has come now for Felicia to have a bit of privacy, but I remember you saying that rentable garages are few and far between in your area, and expensive when they are available. So sorry you are having a hard time.
