A friend of mine in the UK who runs vintage cars, says modern fuels are far too 'dry' (i.e. not oily) so he mixes diesel with his petrol to run his cars.

I have the same problem.. hot weather and engine hot = hot start problem.

With 34ºc outside and 2hours running, the fuelfilter and the fuel line on the engine bay are too hot.

I will move the fuel filter to another spot.

I already contact the person who did that heatshield, and he gently gave me the measures, I already started tdo something.. soon I will share.

The R4 GTL with Zenith carb has indeed a history with hot (re)starts, even the Hayes mentioned a modification regarding fuelpump and fuel lines.
Also I came once accross an article regarding a combination of heatshield and real ceramic coated manifold.
A single sheet of metal is not really a heatshield, it must consist of several layers to radiate the heat.
I don't have experience with the Chinese remake Zenith but on several forums (Netherlands as well as this forum) people are not really convinced.
