After.all.i can not believe that this is chassis that BorgeB and drowe for 500km from Slavonski Brod to Vodice. And that all did not broke on its way to Vodice.

Still left to remove front lower arm support (i can not undo bolts) and that it isfor old chassis

From Netherland or better say R-QUATRE.nl

Big sprocket is made by IJS SPAIN. I can see on internet that IJS is manufacturing all kind off sprockets, chain kits, pulleys.
Small sprocket is without any marking.

Teeth are hardened according to Mr Jan-Willem from R-QUATRE.

Now, job with engine can continue!

Mean while front suspension is taken appart.

Upper and lower arm together with vertical bracket are sandblasted and cleaned from paint, rust and body protection.

All bolts, nuts and washers listed and send to galvanising. Made a list of bolts and nuts that need to be changed as they are so much rusted that can not be used again

Rubber silent blocks take off from upper and lower arms.

Prepaired all for painting.

Thank you.
I do not know differently.
I spend more time, writing all down, and taking photos than taking all appart.

Rust is part of game owning an R4

When you are out of idea how to remove bolt in front lower arm (one infront of torsion bar) and you take extra big hammer which do not help and after destoring rubber in lower bush you realise that bolt got "welded" to bush inner sleve because of rust

Lower arm with bush and bolt

Cut out bolt to alove space for grind rubber inside bush with inner sleve from other side bush for comparison.

Here you can see head of bolt "welded" to inner sleve. Left is inner sleve from other side

Fun with rust all the time.

Ít's always fun on every aspect of owning, driving and restoring a R4.
Good job so far and that particular rusted spot is very rare.

I was surprised also. Other side fell out with slight push.

This project brings another point of how much car can rust.

First parts are back to (new) chassis

Chassis is lifted little bit not to lay down on ground and to have more access for working around,

Front "legs" and tube crossmember is mounted

And small springs that holds handbrake cables are put on.

Next.....taking apart brakes and rear axle, renewing what needs to be renewed and back to chassis.
