Vagabund

Is that top homemade or you could buy it (sometimes in the past)?
Very interested to see how this project will end up!

Picked up the wreckage today.
Dismantled it and put the high roof in our workshop.

The roof was a factory build.

This one sat on top of a van to transport a disabled person in a wheelchair.

In the Netherlands there is a second one.
It was build as a camper.

Finally I got the time to pick up my new F6 body from Belgium.

It sits in an old farm shed now next to Joop’s project.

For now it’s way to cold to work on it. But in the coming winter months this will keep me busy for some time.

Been busy today assesing what needs to be done at the donor body.
Some superficial rust and other blemishes.
And about 5 spots that need some serious work involving angle grinder and welding
IMG_5104.JPG
This is where the backdoor sits. Here is supposed to be the mechanical doorstopper. One of the weak points of the F6
IMG_5105.JPG
Same spot all sheared through.
IMG_5107.JPG
A serious hole in the floor just above where the bump stops sit this is the left side.
IMG_5108.JPG
And the same goes for the right side.
IMG_5109.JPG
I brought some tires to rest the body on on its side when I'm working on the floor outside the loading space.
IMG_5110.JPG
And lets not forget the window frame has some rust worm eating its way through the thin metal.

If you in need of a good donorpart lower corner front windowframe, let me know. Keep it up!

Patching holes was the order of the day today and making a big one on purpose.
The welding isn't great It needs some more work but it'll do with some more grinding and covering with body filler.

The hole in the side is to give me some more visibility on the right side of the road.

The vagabond is taking shape a bit.
We have taken all the remaining steel parts from the original car of the fiberglass roof. The Germans that build this thing didn't use crappy glue.
It took a full day with an angle grinder and a sharp knife to cut all the steel parts from the fiberglass roof. First cutting away the roof gutter and then in between the roofline and the body part that needed to come of.
But we did it.
And we gave my trusted green F6 a nice blue top hat.a12391fd-3534-4ddf-a6d9-e34b0c3d1b3e.jpg

Hi there harbourseal! being so eager in patching and closing up holes, remember to leave those 2 up front as they are
-up here we call them doors! c",) -Reid.

Thank you for for pointing that out to me Reid.

I was under the impression that I had to do those big holes to.

Good that you stopped me just in time.
