    Return of Claude the F4

He looks shiner that when he left. He had a useful life here in France but we didn't have the expertise to do the various minor repairs etc. An album here of his life in France - well the first few years when he was still shiny! I'll have to change my username and avatar now.

    Rallye des Vins Macon

Not my photos. The Rally is part of the French national rally championship - there were 146 competitors plus 28 classics.

    Rallye des Vins Macon

One of the special stages started in our village. The Rallye des Vins web site (in French) is here. If you would like to view some of the official photos the 'frame' with this years photos is here. We also have a hill climb on the other side of the hill from us (lots of nice hairpin bends)...

This is one of two Alpine A110 taking part in the Rallye des vins - held in the Maconnais wine region of Southern Burgundy - there is a section for 'Rallye Véhicules Historique de Compétition'. Amongst the many Porsche 911s there were also a R5 Turbo, a R5 Alpine and two Mk1 Ford escorts.

Mike - you may want to rethink your plans to fell a tree with a hornets nest in if you read this

    How many Left

I would think that the number sorned would be higher in December as all those cherished and lovingly restored R4s are put away for the winter once more - after their 6 months of freedom. Over here in France even our sunbleached red F4 gets garaged for the winter - although that more to do...

    Clementine's Cafe Bermuda Triangle

There seems to be a lot of threads recently (mostly in Clementine's Cafe) where the first poster has edited his post so none of the following replies make any sense. Is there a way of time limiting edits so that spelling mistakes can be corrected but whole posts can't be changed after the post...

The Rodeo and Blanche are en route for England

Sorry to disappoint Malcolm but the Rodeo has not been touched since it arrived at our place in July - except to be used by the kittens as a jungle gym and inclement weather shelter. Perhaps being cats like Clementine they are born with R4 fettling skills. Blanche has only been moved once...

    Would you believe it?

I believe it was a photo of a crashed R4 and 2CV - Though why it has been removed I have no idea - unless it was for breach of copyright.

    Help!

edwardhall Surely to register and insure a car in France you would need a french address? I quote from another post of yours in reply to advice about registering a car in france: Full post is here: http://www.renault4.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3903 You state in that post that...

Is this normal? Air filter question

Blanche, a 1990 lhd TL also has a plastic air filter with metal clips. As kevin and kate say they can be bought at mister auto here in France. http://www.mister-auto.com/filtre-a-air/mecafilter-l3411_g8_a218L3411.html

    Can you spot the Difference?

I used a similar technique for fitting the grill to Claude - but without the benefit of welding the washers on - it was a bit fiddly. The car was bought with the chrome grill with the mesh already attached. Claude's claim to fame is that she was originally owned by the British embassy in...

Clementine has a brand new car!

We were in a similar situation, a R4 Van with no rear doors was awkward for getting our grand-daughter into and out of, and the trips to Lyon Airport could be a bit hair-raising in the pouring rain. So we gave in when some friends offered us a Renault Megane at a good price. Malcolm - a...

    Importing my 1988 R4

As Lobster says you may get away without changing the speedo -when we were in the UK we ran 2 R4s both LHD and both still had kph speedos and passed their MOTs OK. See this article on converting headlamps from LHD to RHD If it already has a (single) fog light you may need to move it from...
