My renault 4 restoration

I've waxed the cavities, started to assemble the chassis.
I also assemble the hubs , and i found a problem: the bracket holding the caliper was rubbing of the brake disc, i checked some old spare hubs ad there brackets did not rub , just because the disc was worn. The quickest solution was to machine 2mm from the bracket .

Hi Domsky, there is usually a thin spacer that fits on the stub axle behind the hub, allowing clearance for the caliper carrier.
Regards Brian.

None of my hubs has them , but skimming the bracket did the trick ;)

How odd, my present car has them and my previous car did too. I accidentally left one out and sure enough the carrier rubbed the disc, but glad to see your mod has done the trick. You are at a nice stage now in your rebuild, putting stuff back, very rewarding.

Out of curiosity, how did you set up the caliper carriers on your milling machine table to be sure they end square and parallel?

Nice video, thanks for sharing! Bad ass lathe by the way :D

I gave it to the professional ;)

I managed to resurrect twin barrel weber carburetor, also i stripped the gearbox to change some bearings and fit lsd.
Btw , anyone has single speedline alloy for sale ?
